Sinners: filmvertoning
Omschrijving:
Sinners: What Justice Means for Us
“The world calls us sinners because they’re scared of our freedom.” — Ryan Coogler
This Halloween season, join us for a special movie screening of Ryan Coogler’s 'Sinners', followed by a community discussion on decolonial justice in film - and the importance of creating, protecting, and sustaining Black, Brown, and Indigenous spaces.
In his latest work, Coogler reimagines the horror genre to explore what freedom means in African American history. Sinners, set in 1930s Mississippi, draws unsettling parallels between the Jim Crow era and the present day. The film delves into music, faith, and identity as paths toward liberation. All while weaving in haunting cultural symbolism, bloodthirsty vampires, and (yes) double the Michael B. Jordan!
After the screening, we’ll hold space to reflect on what identity-based cultural spaces mean to us, and how we, as trans and queer people of color, can navigate, challenge, and reimagine them together.
Please note: This event is an exclusive safer space for queer and trans people of color (QTBIPOC).
