Beyond the Binary Groningen: IDAHOBIT
Omschrijving:
For the International Day against Homophobia, Biphobia, Interphobia, and Transphobia (IDAHOBIT). AISG presents Beyond the Binary, an event to celebrate gender diversity, exploring gender misconceptions and myths, and shedding more light on the gender spectrum!
Beyond the Binary is an interactive event where you can drop-in at any time and participate! This gives you the absolute freedom to explore your own interests through different mediums, expanding your knowledge on the LGBTQIA+ community.
Amongst the many activities planned, here is a sneak peek:
Flag Spectrum:
Flags are some of the most important symbols for representation of an entity, whether we look towards countries,
organisations, or even gender-labels they allow people to come together behind a single image. Do you know how many gender-representing flags there are? What do they look like? Come over to find and learn about your own flag while discovering the importance and origin of the other flags.
Myth Misconceptions:
Using the power of science and facts, we will be presenting myths and misconceptions that are often related to the LGBTQIA+ community, such as the notion of a Gaydar, adoption attitudes within LGBTQIA+ communities, or understanding the science behind bisexuality amongst other issues. This area will allow all those who attend to reflect on their own bias while expanding their knowledge on the science behind sexuality.
Communicating with the Community:
We’re fortunate enough to have representatives from the Box and Ganymedes joining us on this day to share
their experiences from within the LGBTQIA+ community. Through their own experiences, they’ll be answering any questions, queries, or even just ideas you may want to discuss. Furthermore, they’ll provide us with further
insight into the current situation of the LGBTQIA+ community today, shedding light on the importance of understanding the fluidity of gender and sexuality.
So, come on over to The Crown on the 17th of May for a fantastic learning experience supporting IDAHOBIT and the LGBTQIA+ community, whilst extending your own perspective.
Later in the evening after this event continue the celebration with AISG at Amnesty After Hours:
